Although your family veterinarian may have examined your pet recently, it is important that Dr. Startup also evaluate your pet. Because general anesthesia is required for all dental procedures, your pet needs a thorough physical examination. Rather than taking a "one-size-fits-all" approach, we tailor the anesthetic protocol (including the types and dosages of anesthetic drugs) to each individual patient. It is important for us to get to know your pet's medical history, current physical condition, and personality in order to select the best anesthetic regimen. By performing the initial examination, we are better able to schedule the appropriate amount of surgical time for each patient.

During your pet’s initial consultation, we will provide you with a written estimate of the dental procedures to be performed.

Because most dental procedures we perform are on an outpatient basis, most patients are sent home the same day as the surgery. You always have the option of arranging for your pet to stay the night in our clinic or to stay with your family veterinarian.
