Sharon Startup, DVM
 
Dr. Sharon Startup graduated from the University of Georgia in 1985 and completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at the Univerisity of Tennessee in 1986. She has been in private practice in Knoxville since 1986 and has been devoted to the study and practice of veterinary dentistry since 1997. Dr. Startup is currently the University of Tennessee's visiting scholar in veterinary dentistry.
 

Dr.  Startup spends her free time with her family, and she especially enjoys backpacking in the Smokies, wakeboarding on Norris Lake, snowboarding any slope that has snow, and climbing the occasional mountain. She has five dogs and one cat.

Jamie Hicks, Head Veterinary Assistant

 

Jamie’s love for animals and desire to care for them led her to enter the veterinary field eight years ago. She brings with her a wealth of experience. As a general medicine veterinary assistant, Jamie assists doctors with medical procedures, monitors anesthesia, takes radiographs, and sets IV catheters.

 

Recently, Jamie transitioned into the role of veterinary dental assistant for Animal Dental Services, where she assists Dr. Startup in all phases of veterinary dentistry.
